Tara livens up The
Place Today's Tom/Tara Update:
New England Patriots main man Tom Brady
and his Pussycat, Tara Reid, took in the soggy second half of
the Red Sox doubleheader from the Budweiser box at Fenway Park
the other night. Tom and his constant companion watched the Sox
drop another one with backup QB Damon Huard and some linemen,
then repaired to The Place for some fun and games. We hear the
ever-accommodating staff at the Broad Street club closed off the
dance floor so Tara, Tom, his teammates and a bunch of Bruins
could shake it unmolested. ``(Tara) was all over the bar and dance
floor,'' said Someone Who Knows. ``When we first walked in, she
was up on a table being asked to step down by security.'' Later,
Tara was observed with her head under Tom's shirt. Such a lively
gal. . . . The ``American Pie'' star was dressed in her usual
uniform - ultra-low-cut jeans and a black tank. Which, we guess
is better than the two outfits she sported in this week's Worst
Dressed parade in People maggie. Tara's white crocheted dress
was called a ``lampshade'' by People's fashion police and the
backless black number was ``accessorized with toilet paper,''
the maggie snipes. Yipes!

Tara has Tom Pie-eyed
And speaking of the Pats, QB/QT Tom Brady and his new best gal,
Tara Reid, went out on the town to celebrate after the Pats whupped
the New York Jets Sunday night. Our spies on the scene say the
Super Bowl MVP and the ``American Pie'' creampuff pulled up to
The Exchange in a limo with teammate Lawyer Milloy and some other
big guys. The pigskin party posse went inside for about an hour-and-a-half
and boogied to some hip-hop and techno tunes. Which, considering
No. 12's well-known lack of talent in that area was a brave act!``The
couple flirted and talked at the bar for a couple minutes,'' said
Someone Who Was There. ``When they were separated, they danced
with mutual friends, but never far from each other. They were
once seen kissing and laughing in the back room.'' Another spywitness
reports that the Pats pack was ``very protective'' toward Tara.``She's
famous and they wanted to make sure nobody bum-rushed her. Their
eyes were open.''Tom and Tara reportedly were ``very hot and sweaty''
when they left the joint. We bet.

Lady and the Champ
Scenes From an Italian Restaurant: QB/QT Tom Brady and Hollywood
party gal Tara Reid pitched woo over a plate of pasta at Siro's
in Marina Bay the other night. The comely couple, who came out
of the closet - dating-wise - at Monday night's New England Patriots/Pittsburgh
Steelers game, held hands and stared into each other's eyes all
night, report our ever-helpful spies. ``They were really into
each other,'' said one spywitness. ``They were very cute to watch.''
Awwwwww . . .Tom, of course, has a new bachelor pad in Marina
Bay but we hear Tara - who, by the way, was just named one of
People maggie's Worst Dressed - was staying downtown. Do stay
tuned.

Finding out Brady's `secret'
date was easy as Pie
Now don't say we told you but here's the scoop: Tom Brady's super-secret
``Monday Night Football'' date was none other than hard-partying
Hollywood hottie Tara Reid! And, trust us, the 26-year-old ``American
Pie'' star did nothing to diminish her rep as the most ``over-served''
starlet in Tinseltown! ``Ohmigod, she was coming out of the bathroom
and she looked wobbly, definitely wobbly,'' said Michelle Leahy
of Wakefield, who encountered Tara near Section 109 at Gillette
Stadium Monday night. ``She had a little guy with her pushing
people out of the way, and she just kept saying `thank you, thank
you, thank you.' People tried to talk to her but she wasn't talking
to anyone.'' Well, none of the civilians anyway. We assume Tara,
who recently railed about press accounts of her wild-girl ways,
chatted with Brady. We're told he provided her ticket to the big
New England Patriots-Pittsburgh Steelers showdown and ensconced
her in primo seats along with his sister, Nancy, and his roommate,
recently released Patriot Dave Nugent. Tara also was spotted post-game
in the tent behind the Pats Pro Shop where the players, family
and friends celebrated their victory. And yesterday, the pulchritudinous
pair pounded pasta, veal piccata and a veal chop at lunch at Il
Panino in the North End! ``They're friends, that's it. There's
no story,'' said Tara's spokesgal, Rachel Seltzer. Brady's agent,
Steve Dubin, was even less helpful. ``I'm not going to respond,''
he said. Which, of course, leaves us to rely on our always helpful
spywitnesses who offered the following: Tara, who just finished
filming the indie flick ``Heaven's Pond,'' came to the game dressed
in extremely low-cut jeans. She reportedly ``smoked like a chimney''
- in the designated smoking areas, we hope! - and stumbled and
bumbled about the stadium like Jerome ``The (Stalled) Bus'' Bettis.
``She blamed it on her shoes,'' said one amused onlooker. Added
Seltzer: ``Shoes can make you wobbly.'' Tara, who obviously had
a positive effect on Tom's on-the-field performance (he threw
three touchdowns)n was also very friendly toward Nugent. At one
point, she was observed sitting on his lap. Fortunately, Dave's
galpal was seated quite a distance away from the action. Neither
Brady nor Reid's peeps would comment on how this beautiful friendship
came to be. But you might recall Tara gave an interview to CosmoGirl
last spring, bemoaning her breakup with MTV's Carson Daly and
revealing she asked her agent to set her up with Brady. At the
time, No. 12 said he wasn't interested. Guess he changed his mind.

Racing to help kids
A pigskin Patriots pack packed F-1 in Braintree the other night
for Lawyer Milloy's fund-raiser for his kids' foundation. Super
Bowl studs Tom Brady and Adam Vinatieri were set upon by a mob
and had to be ushered out early, we hear. But not before Tom reprised
his white-boy victory dance to drive up the bidding during the
auction. Which gave Milloy and Ty Law ample opportunity to poke
fun at the QB/QT. But
Tom's a good sport, and to prove it, he and Ty got into a bidding
war over Milloy's team shirt, which finally sold for something
in the neighborhood of $3,000. Nice neighborhood! (Tom, he of
the big, fat new contract, bought it.) Also
partying at the racetrack were teammates Teddy Bruschi, Troy Brown,
Lonie Paxton, Otis Smith, Antwan Harris and more. The event raised
a pile o' dough for Milloy's foundation for disadvantaged kids.

New England Patriots sack stud Lawyer
Milloy and a posse of his Super Bowl brethren will hit the racetrack
tonight for the First Annual Lawyer Milloy F1 Boston Celebrity Challenge.
The $100-a-ticket event puts teams of sponsors - captained by a
sports celeb - through a 90-minute endurance race at the Braintree
track. Proceeds fund Lawyer's new foundation, which will support
youth development programs. And finally, Celebrity Trackings: Patriots
poobah Tom Brady and teammates Dave Nugent and Grey Ruegamer took
in the John Michael Montgomery show at the South Shore Music Circus
the other night. . . . Food Network nabob Mario Batali was heard
yammering on his cellphone on the street in Oak Bluffs. . . . Carly
Simon in leopard skin leggings lapping up the atmosphere at Atria
in Edgartown.

Today's Tom Brady Item: The Super Bowl
XXXVI hunk is next week's TV Guide coverboy - the national edition,
thank you very much. Brady - ``the biggest thing in New England
since clams,'' TV Guide says - shared cover-boy duties with Philly's
Donovan McNabb in the NFL season preview.

And yes, that was New England Patriots QB/QT
Tom Brady brunching with his dad and big sis at Sonsie the other
day. As usual, every gal in the joint was trying to make a pass
at him.

Brady revs up refund--Either Tom Brady needs
a money manager or he just scored one. Because we hear the Patriots
QB/QT requested the Registry of Motor Vehicles to refund the $2,465
in sales tax he paid on his spiffy Super Bowl wheels! Apparently,
Tom wasn't in tune with the Tax Man's free pass on prize winnings.
So when he registered his $49,290 Cadillac Escalade - which Brady
won being Super Bowl XXXVI's MVP - he shouldn't have paid the sales
tax. Tom, being a child of the cyberage, requested his RMV refund
via e-mail. And - as you can imagine - a check for $2,465 was dispatched
to Casa Brady quicker than the lottery for low-numbered license
plates!

Rivers blind-sides Brady Super Bowl XXXVI
MVP Tom Brady may want to enlist Patriot teammates Joe Andruzzi
and Damien Woody to throw a block at E! fashionista Melissa Rivers
the next time he waltzes down the red carpet. The Pats' QB/QT, looking
dapper decked out in a designer tux, was sacked by Missy as he arrived
at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood the other night to collect his
ESPY award. Apparently, Joan's kid didn't get the memo on Tom's
love life because she mistook Brady's sister, Julie, for his ex-galpal,
Boston PR princess Laura Kinsman.Gulp.But even after ESPY's Breakthrough
Star introduced his sis, the E! gal wouldn't let it go.``So where's
your girlfriend, Laura, tonight?'' roared Red Carpetzilla.Which
forced the quarterback to do some broken field running as he spun
a tale about Kinsman being ``just a friend back in Massachusetts.''File

Ain't
they cute? That's local sports studs Tom Brady and Paul Pierce hangin'
out with the homes at the Hard Rock Café the other night. WE just
love it when kids play nice. (Herald photo by Allan E. Dines)

And word from The Rack is that New England
Patriots QB/QT Tom Brady took a pass on posing for photos at a
benefit thrown by his under-exposed teammates, Joe Andruzzi and
Lonie Paxton. Ya think even Tom's sick of looking at himself?BUT
WE'RE NOT SICK OF IT WE WANT MORE!!!

No love lost over Tom's cover photo - Boston
maggie, which names New England Patriots QB/QT Tom Brady as a
``Bostonian We Love'' in its 40th anniversary issue, loves the
Super Bowl MVP so much, they slapped him on the cover. But Tom,
we hear, wasn't Love-ing the idea of posing for the magazine,
so he took a pass.Seems that back in April, when the Boston brass
beckoned Brady to pose, he was feeling a little ``overexposed''
and was taking some ribbing from his teammates. (Admit it, you've
also felt some Tom Fatigue.) However, the monthly's management
was hell-bent on getting Brady to be their birthday cover boy.
So they tracked down the photog who snapped the Tom pic for Sports
Illustrated's cover, Brian Lanker, and bought the shot. ``We're
not pretending that Tom sat for our photographers,'' said Boston
publisher Dan Scully. ``But we love Tom. He's absolutely a public
figure and we write about him in the issue. So why not have him
on the cover?'' Two years ago, Scully & Co. came under fire when
- after making a pitch and being refused - they featured Red Sox
hurler Pedro Martinez on the cover of the ``Best of Boston'' issue.
Red Sox sultan John Harrington was furious about the monthly's
defiance since it came on the heels of an article that painted
the Sox as greedy and clueless in their quest to get the state
to cough up for a new ballpark. There was a lot of sputtering
about suing on Yawkey Way, but the ex-Sox brass stopped short.
Tom Brady's peeps, by comparison, had no comment on their coverboy.
Just call it a photo finish!
Jilted but not jolted
And speaking of Tom, just who do you think
was working the BoMag lunch yesterday at the Boston Harbor Hotel?
Jilted Brady lady Laura Kinsman! The poor PR gal was buzzing around
the Wharf Room, which was plastered with Tom's marvy mug, on her
first assignment for Regan Communications, where Laura went back
to work after her brief flirtation with the Left Coast. ``It's
my second day back and they asked me if I wanted to go over to
this event,'' Kinsman said. ``And I figured what the heck.'' How
incredibly brave! Considering the pigskin heart-breaker sacked
his steady a day before People's ``50 Most Beautiful'' issue hit
the stands last May. (Tom's profile declared he ``recently broke
up with a girlfriend.'' Um, ouch!) We're thinking Laura doesn't
count herself amongst the Bostonians who Love Tom. And who could
blame her?
Side Track
The three CBS-owned radio stations - aka
The Patriots Rock Radio Network - have scored new deals with Super
Bowl studs Tom Brady and Adam Vinatieri, who will chat live on
WBCN, WZLX and MIX 98.5 during the football season. Brady will
do a weekly interview every Friday of the regular season with
Nik Carter on 'BCN and Vinatieri will chat with John Lander on
MIX, then do the Monday-morning quarterbacking thing with Tank
on 'ZLX.

Caricature of a thief - We don't know if
the guy's a Buffalo Bills fan or a Tom Brady groupie, but someone
has swiped ex-New England Patriots QB Drew Bledsoe's caricature
from the wall at Joe Tecce's. Eatery owner Sal Tecce - who in
1996 started a war of the walls when The Palm came to town and
threw up drawings of famous local faces but passed on Sal's PR
buddy, George Regan - claimed omerta on the caricature crime.
But don't think a drawing of Drew's successor is hanging in No.
11's real estate. Apparently, U.S. Rep. Mike Capuano, who has
been quite put out that his mug isn't on the wall, slapped up
an 8-by-10 headshot of himself in Drew's old space.`It looks ridiculous,''
said Someone Who Knows. Of course it does.
Marina Bay swing set
And speaking of jocks and self-important
people: What's the hottest address in town for swinging single
men? Hint: It's not in town.It seems Marina Bay in Quincy is the
new hot spot for the bachelor (or is it bachelor-from-hell?) set.Setting
up housekeeping in the posh, waterfront developments are: New
England Patriots heartthrob Tom Brady; his teammates, Lawyer Milloy
and Willie McGinest; U. S. Rep. Bill Delahunt and his constant
companion, PR guru George Regan; The Zone ranger Sean McDonough;
and the ex-Mr. Natalie Jacobson, Chet Curtis.Quite a lineup, huh?

Hot time at Bonfire for Drew, Pats - It
was just like old homey week when a pack of New England Patriots,
led by heartthrob Tom Brady, hooked up with their erstwhile QB,
Drew Bledsoe, for a little red-meat chowdown at Bonfire, followed
by more revelry with more jocks at Whiskey Park. Drew and Tom
and teammates Larry Izzo, Lawyer Milloy, Willie McGinest, Otis
Smith and Ted Johnson consumed vast quantities of chef Todd English's
grub until about midnight the other night. At one point, the table
was joined by Mass. Film Office cheese Robin Dawson, who, our
spies swear, was discussing Clint Eastwood's new flick, ``Mystic
River,'' with Brady. Dawson is trying to get Clint to film the
set-in-Boston saga in Boston. Perhaps some Super Bowl MVP lobbying
is in the works. Or maybe Tom will star; with him, you never know.
Anyway, after many, many platters of tacos, empanadas, sirloins
(Drew, Otis and Larry) and Porterhouses (Tom and Lawyer) and a
$58 bottle of Larrikin Syrah that the new Buffalo Bill picked
out, the team was fueled up and ready to party on. So the boys
repaired to Whiskey Park next door where they hoisted a few with
Celtics Antoine Walker and Tony Battie, former New Kid On The
Block Jordan Knight and various and sundry Seattle Mariners.``Tom
was talking to a cute brunette for a while, but mainly speaking
only to his boys while ignoring all the women trying to catch
his eye,'' said Someone Who Was There. Such a tease. . .

Reports of Brady with Super Bowl jewelry
don't ring true - Word around the locker room is that the Super
Bowl XXXVI champs will finally get their paws on their glitzy
championship rings June 9 - and not a day before! Which certainly
contradicts reports that erstwhile MVP Tom Brady was flashing
his ring around at the Kentucky Derby. ``We won't deliver the
rings to the team until a week before (the ceremony) at the earliest,''
said Mark Cassutt, spokesguy for Minneapolis-based Jostens, which
has scored the ring contract for five of the past six Super Bowls.
The jewelry manufacturer, which did send a prototype of the ring
to the Pats, has put the pedal to the metal to get the rings out
in time. But we hear it wasn't easy collecting ring sizes not
only from the champs, but the Patriots coaching and training staffs,
front office folks, players who were traded (ahem) and various
and sundry Krafts. And speaking of the owners, we hear it's up
to Robert & Company where and when the spring ring-fling takes
place. We assume they'll have to work around their QB/QT's social
schedule! Last time we checked, Brady was filming a new football
video game. Yeesh.

Eliza drops the ball on Pats QB - She may
play a cheerleader in the movies, but Watertown homegal Eliza
Dushku had NO idea who Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady was when she ran
into the Patriots QB/QT the other night at Whiskey Park. ``I guess
I've been away from Boston too long,'' said Eliza, who was back
home last week promoting her rah-rah role in the upcoming flick,
``The New Guy.'' ``All my friends were so excited to see him and
I was like, `Who's Tom Brady?' '' Oh, boooooooooooooooo. Dushku,
who admits she was more of a tough, loner chick at Watertown High
than a peppy pompom princess, said she observed more than her
share of cheerleaders over the years, so she has no trouble scoring
the roles. ``I think when you're not cool in high school, you
spend a lot of time observing the cool kids,'' said the actress,
21, who does the siss-boom-bah thing in ``The New Guy,'' which
hits theaters Friday. But in her other upcoming flick - ``City
by the Sea'' with Robert DeNiro - Eliza drew on the ready-to-rumble
persona she developed in high school. ``That was a pretty amazing
experience,'' said the local gal, who stars as a heroin junkie
with an 18-month-old child who is involved with a junkie boyfriend
wanted for murder. Which doesn't sound like anything to cheer
about.

What do Tom Brady, Mitt Romney and Nicole
Kidman have in common? They are all on the list of People maggie's
``50 Most Beautiful People In The World.'' The QB/QT and the governor-wannabe
are two of the few semi-civilians on the list of actors, actresses,
models and pop stars. Brady was more than happy to pose for People's
cameras, wearing a T-shirt and tight jeans. Hidden amidst the
blah-blah about Tom's lack of a beauty routine is the throw-away
line that No. 12 ``recently broke up with a girlfriend.'' Ah,
hello???? Word is Tom and former Boston PR chick Laura Kinsman
are, in fact, history. Well, it's hard to hang onto a guy when
Miss Universe contestants and Mariah Carey are throwing themselves
at him! ``It was a long-distance relationship and the demands
on his time took their toll,'' said a Friend Of Laura. ``They
thought it was best for them to take a break.'' Whatever. That,
of course, leaves Tom free to party and pursue the thousands of
babes who have been panting over him since he won the Super Bowl.
We are reminded of what happened when the former QB, Drew Bledsoe,
got a little wild after he was anointed The Franchise: The Pats
airlifted his then-girlfriend, now-wife Maura in from Washington,
enrolled her in Bridgewater State College and moved her into Drew's
pad. Which leads us to ask: Without that kind of supervision,
will Brady suffer from the infamous ``sophomore slump''? ``The
sophomore jinx is real,'' said former Bruin Lyndon Byers, who
now does sports on WAAF. ``I know. I had it most of my career.''
Byers said once an athlete hits it big - and Brady's the biggest
- ``everybody wants something. Your priorities change.'' ``He
has the hottest chicks in the world chasing him, every product
wants his face on their box. I'm sure his agent gets a call every
Monday for him to go play golf on the Pro-Am,'' Byers said. ``Things
like that start to chip away and you get sidetracked.'' But Byers
said he thinks Brady will beat the curse. ``The reason he was
successful last year was that, when he got his shot, he was prepared,''
Byers said. ``I think he'll be all right.'' File under: The Beautiful
People.

Britney makes moves on Brady - First, Mariah
Carey threw herself at No. 12. Now the queen of all pop tarts,
Britney Spears, is making a pass at the QB/QT. Word from our concert
spies is that the Pepsi pitchgal pines to have face time with
the Man Of The Moment, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Perhaps Britney's peeps will invite the Super Bowl MVP to her
June 29 show at the FleetCenter? But don't bet the farm on Tom
RSVPing yes. Because we hear that his longtime galpal, Laura Kinsman,
who headed off to California last year to become a Hollywood publicist,
is moving back home to Foxboro to keep tabs on her boyfriend.Good
move.

Brady takes pass on Kerry benefit - Sen.
John Kerry's big push to wrap up the women's vote - by getting
New England Patriots heartthrob Tom Brady to host a June fund-raiser
- looks like it won't make it over the line of scrimmage. Because
the QB/QT is taking a pass, citing a scheduling conflict on the
day of the event.``This time there was an incomplete pass but
there are always other games,'' Kerry's spokesgal Kelley Benander
told the Track. ``We are certainly grateful for Tom's good intentions.
Even when events don't work out, you can see why Tom Brady led
the Pats to a Super Bowl championship.''Of course, we don't have
to tell you that there's more to this story, do we? Seems that
Brady, who reportedly pines for a career on Capitol Hill after
he hangs 'em up, didn't exactly enjoy his first foray into politics.
It all began March 31, when the Herald's ``Pols & Politics'' column
reported that the Kerry camp had scored a major coup: getting
Brady to host the June 21 time. The timing was unfortunate, coming
just two days before Brady and the rest of his team were due to
call on President George W. Bush in the White House Rose Garden
- one of the perks of being the Super Bowl champs.
Perhaps Tom, who is from California and all, didn't get the memo
that Kerry's planning to run against the Big Guy in 2004. But
that apparently was made clear to him during his foray to D. C.
And since Brady is a big fan of the Commander-in-Chief, he may
have had second thoughts about his commitment to Kerry. We can
tell you that two days after the White House visit - and just
after the Drudge Report reported that Brady would stump for Kerry
- the Super Bowl MVP balked and the fund-raiser was subsequently
sacked. U.S. News & World Report got into the fray last week,
reporting that both Democrats and Republicans were vying for the
football hero's endorsement. ``As for Brady,'' the maggie said,
``his new White House friends told us he wanted all the politicians
to shut up and stop making it sound as if he likes any of them.''
And there's your Very Brady Sequel.
Mariah glitters with Tom
And speaking of Brady, New York maggie reports
that he and dippy diva Mariah Carey made a lot more than polite
chit-chat at the pop star's graduation bash for her cousin at
Anago last week. Mariah, dressed in a slinky black number, and
Tom reportedly ``raised eyebrows'' by ``bumping and grinding''
on the dance floor. ``They were definitely flirting,'' a party
tattletale told the magazine. ``They were deep in conversation
for hours.'' Hmmmm. We will say this. We've seen Tom's white boy
dance. And bumping and grinding seems utterly beyond his capabilities.
For what it's worth. File under: Vision Of Love?

We've
told you about it and now it's here: Super Bowl XXXVI MVP Tom
Brady tying one on for breast cancer. The New England Patriots
QB/QT gets 'Tied to the Cause' in a new ad campaign sponsored
by Ford and Conde Nast maggies. In the public service ad, Brady,
sporting a Kate Spade-designed bandana around his bulging bicep,
says: 'Coming from a family with a mother and three older sisters,
breast cancer is something I don't take lightly. One out of every
eight women get it. That's our mothers, our sisters, our aunts,
our girlfriends. You don't have to get breast cancer to be affected
by it.' Such a nice boy. Pick up this month's Vanity Fair to judge
for yourself.

Pop diva Mariah Carey was the hostess with
the mostess over the weekend at Anago at the Lenox Hotel, where
she threw a rockin' pre-graduation bash for her cousin, Shawn
McDonald - complete with Super Bowl XXXVI MVP Tom Brady, a few
Yankees and one of New York's hottest DJs.Now, it's unclear how
Tom Terrific and a few of his New England Pats pals scored invites
to the songbird's soiree. But Mariah did sing the national anthem
at Super Bowl XXXVI, so maybe now they figure they're closer than
family!

A slew of Celtics, Lakers, New England Patriots
and New York Rangers partied at Whiskey Park the other night after
the hoop hunks dunked the Shaq-less Lakers at the FleetCenter.
Such a jockathon! The football champs - Lawyer Milloy and Willie
McGinest - took in the Celts game and, of course, brought down
the house when the Jumbotron caught them cheering on the sidelines.
We hear QB/QT Tom Brady, who we assume is a Kobe fan since he's
a California boy, was expected to show at the sold-out showdown,
but the Super Bowl MVP cancelled at the last minute. A shame,
really.

Senator Tom Brady? A Capitol idea! He's
already won the hearts and minds of Massachusetts and now, it
seems, New England Patriots superstud Tom Brady has wowed Washington. One
day after Tom & Co. paid their visit to President Bush and the
White House, the Drudge Report (a Beltway Bible whether they want
to admit it or not) proclaimed ``President Brady? NFL Star Dreams
Of Being In Washington.''The story - heralded as a Drudge ``Exclusive''
and given the popular Web site's most prominent placement for
part of yesterday - reports that ``political Washington is intrigued
by NFL star Tom Brady's apparent interest in public service.''``His
teammates were joking that he might be living in the White House
one day,'' an ``insider'' told Drudge. `` `President Brady!' they
teased.''Well, Brady's political ambitions aren't exactly a secret.
His sister, Julie, told People after the Super Bowl that her baby
brother had his sights set on Capitol Hill and hopes to be a U.
S. senator some day.But Tom Brady for president? Well, why the
heck not! Let's face it, the Democratic Party could do a whole
lot worse (see Gore, Al) and plenty of jocks have made the jump
from the sports arena to the political arena. (See Bradley, Bill
and Kemp, Jack.) But it's not clear whether Tom's a Democrat or
Republican.``He'd be the first hunk president of the United States,''
enthused Democratic political consultant Kevin Sowyrda. ``How
could he lose? He'd get every female vote, every gay vote and
every jock vote. And those are all the votes. He'd be a political
juggernaut. JFK with a Super Bowl ring!''Added GOP spindoctor
Charley Manning, who knows a few things about good-looking candidates
- he's represented Mitt Romney - ``He'd better make sure to get
the double facebar on the helmet. You don't want anything to happen
to that face when the linebackers are blitzing.''When consultant
Ray Howell stopped laughing, he suggested that Brady aim a little
lower than the Oval Office his first time out. But not all the
political gurus dismissed Tom's political future as an Impossible
Dream.``Right now, he's a flash in the pan,'' said Democratic
spindoc Larry Rasky, ``but if he can show staying power, on and
off the field, and win another Super Bowl, this will translate
well into public office for Brady.''
QB confusion
And then there's poor Drew Bledsoe, who
can't be happy about living in Tom's rather large shadow. No wonder
he doesn't want to leave Montana! So there was Bledsoe, on a Northwest
Airlines connecting flight from Minneapolis to Washington for
the big White House hoedown the other night, when a gaggle of
high school girls got wind that the New England Patriots quarterback
was on the plane. ``The buzz was that it was Tom Brady,'' said
our spy in the sky. ``The stewardess told the girls that his ticket
didn't say Tom Brady, but they were insisting, `That's Tom Brady,
that's Tom Brady!' ''When the plane touched down, our spy spied
No. 11 posing for pics with the confused fans. No word on whether
they ever found out his true Drew identity.
And speaking of the Pats, they got to meet, as Lawyer Milloy called
him, ``The Man'' at the White House the other day. But there was
one special guest that probably copped more attention than President
Bush - Miss USA Shauntay Hinton!``All of a sudden, she just walked
up to the group of them and they were all talking to her,'' said
Someone Who Was There. Oh, we bet.Shauntay, a broadcasting major
at Howard University in D.C., was there for her obligatory meet-and-greet
with Dubya and hung around to do the same with the Super Bowl
XXXVI champs. The beauty queen is already acquainted with MVP Tom
Brady, since the QB/QT was a pageant judge last month when Shauntay
scored her crown. Now, we hope Miss USA expressed her gratitude
to Tom. Because that's just good politics!

the Vince Lombardi Trophy and a benchload of teammates marched

Nelly's ``Number One,'' and thunderous applause. After stopping
into the dugout to shake hands, the 22 Pats were ushered upstairs
to Kraft's box. (Brady was still clutching his baseball as he
chatted endlessly with the boss.)The Sox had revolving security
staffers standing guard outside Box 15 to keep the gals away from
Tom.Fortunately, the dessert cart made it through and the boys
plundered the pastry like they shredded the Rams offense.

And about 20 New England Patriots football
heroes, led by QB/QT Tom Brady, will throw out the first pitch.
As a team. Of course. ``There will be a few surprises, things
bigger than people expect,'' said Someone Who Knows.
Tuesday, March 26, 2002
Tom Brady's a yes, and Drew Bledsoe is still
undecided as the New England Patriots get ready for some face
time with the nation's No. 1 football fan, President George Bush,
at the White House Tuesday. The Super Bowl XXXVI champs got invited
to party with the prez shortly after they silenced the Rams. Perhaps
the boys can give the commander-in-chief a few pointers on not
choking! Anyway, after numerous schedule changes, the traditional
White House/football hero meet-and-greet will happen between 11
a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday.
So
why, you ask, did Tom Brady watch 'Braveheart' 150 times? Was
it to get way-cool war paint tips from Mel Gibson? Or maybe it
was the Scot's rousing leadership spirit that kept the Patriots
QB/QT glued to the screen? 'Nah, it's probably because the movie
came out on cable when he was in college and it was on all the
time,' said Someone Who Knows. Aye, what else is there to do at
the University of Michigan when the Wolverines' season went kaput?
Anyway, as you are so aware by now, Brady was one of the 40 MVPs
that Radical Media in New York showcased during the opening Oscar
what-movie-inspired-you sequence. We're told that the Pats' main
man, who appeared for about four seconds, was filmed by uber docu-filmmaker
Erroll Morris in Boston. Where we assume some make-up was required.
Monday, March 25, 2002
BTW, we should mention that last night's
emcee was ``The Job'' star Lenny Clarke, who is half the man he
used to be and looking super-spiffy in his tux. Lenny led the
big round of applause for New England Patriot QB/QT Tom Brady,
one of the 40 movie fans interviewed for the documentary that
aired before the Awards ceremony.

Attention expectant parents! Searching for
that perfect name for the new little heir to the throne? Do we
need to tell you that Jake and Dylan are so five minutes ago?
Seems the hot new trend in baby boy names since Super Bowl Sunday
is - you guessed it - Brady. As in Tom. All over Patriot Nation,
football fanatics are naming their new little bundles of joy after
the QB/QT.``I love the name Brady,'' said Barbara Kay Turner,
author of ``Baby Names: A New Generation.'' ``It's a great boy's
name and would be a great man's name.''Turner said the Very Brady
baby trend probably won't pick up steam nationally for a while.``It
usually takes two or three years,'' she said. ``And most people
don't name their child after the celebrity. They hear about the
name, like it, and when they have a child, they pick it.''Even
so, we expect the Brady Bunch's numbers will start to increase
this summer when HBO brings back its hit series ``Sex and the
City.'' Because Cynthia Nixon aka Miranda Hobbes is the proud
new mommy of a little Brady Hobbes. (Named for his dad, not Tom.)In
fact, ``Sex and the City'' producers are, even as we type, busy
hunting for twin babies - Caucasian, under 10 pounds, with red
or strawberry blond hair - to play little Brady. (They need twins
because of child labor laws that say kids can only work for two
hours at a time.) But we digress. . . .The Super Bowl MVP was
nonplussed when a reporter informed him of the baby Brady boom.``I
don't know what to say about that,'' a bewildered Brady replied.
``As long as it's not mine - and it's not!''Oh, baby. . . .
Thursday, March 7,2002
``Are you kidding?'' laughed Lawyer, ``I
never thought I'd be walking down a red carpet at a movie premiere
like this. The only thing better would be if I was Tom Brady,
24 years old - four years younger - and have that dimple in my
chin!'' Again, no argument here in the dimple department! ``It's
like Alicia Keys winning five Grammys. From now on when they introduce
her, she's the five-time Grammy winner. From now on when they
introduce us, we're the world champs. When we call each other
on the phone we say, `Hey, champ!' '' As for the MVP, his post-Super
Bowl magic carpet ride hasn't touched down yet! ``It's been crazy,''
Brady said, ``a lot of running around and being in different cities.
I haven't been home yet. I'm looking forward to going home and
being with my family.'' Brady was a judge at last week's Miss
USA Pageant in Gary, Ind., hosted by CBS football guru and former
Dallas Cowboy Deion Sanders. A dirty job, but somebody's got to
do it. . . . ``It was a lot of fun, a great weekend,'' is all
the quarterback cutie would cough up on that front.

Quarterback cutie Tom Brady, above, and
his New England Patriots compatriots Bill Belichick, Troy Brown,
Lawyer Milloy and many more huddled with hundreds of pigskin-happy
fans at Loews Boston Common last night for the debut of the NFL
Films Super Bowl XXXVI Championship DVD and video. The 72-minute
flick recaps the highlights of the Pats thrilling Super Bowl season
- the quarterback quandary, the Snow Bowl and, of course, the
thrilling down-to-the-wire Super Bowl victory. "NFL Films always
does the best work," Brady said. "The audio's the best part."
Oh, yeah, all that up-close-and-personal trash-talking on the
bench is worth $14.95 alone. "I thought they did a good job,"
added Brown, who could be excused if he thought he was watching
his own personal highlight reel. "I had a few good roles. Everyone
had a few good roles." Myra Kraft, wife of owner Robert, said
she loved the flick. "I always cry at movies," she said. So did
you cry at this one, Myra? "Of course!" Safety stud Tebucky Jones
said he liked the film so much "I'm gonna watch it again when
I go home." Rah, rah, rah!
Monday, March 4, 2002
Football heroes Tom Brady, Troy Brown, Lawyer
Milloy, Bill Belichick and many other New England Patriots will
be on hand tomorrow night when NFL Films premieres the New England
Patriots Super Bowl XXXVI Official Championship DVD and Video
at the Loews Boston Common. The inside look at the Pats' magical
romp to their first-ever Super Bowl title features exclusive footage
and interviews with Brady and Belichick and bonus footage featuring
U2's half-time performance. The screening and party are invitation-only,
but the video's in the stores tomorrow. Hut, hut!

Brady kick-starts cancer ads-Super Bowl
XXXVI MVP Tom Brady is flying under the radar since leading the
New England Patriots to victory in New Orleans last month. But
we hear the QB/QT will pop up in GQ, Vanity Fair and a few more
maggies this spring after striking a pose the other day for a
breast cancer awareness campaign. Brady, who was out in La-La
for a few days, was snapped by Conde Nast's cameras with a Kate
Spade-designed bandana around his bulging bicep. Well, the pro-bono
ad is for Tied to the Cause. And no, the bandana is not pink,
though we know Tom could pull it off! ``He's extremely photogenic,
but he has no idea,'' said Conde Nast's project coordinator, James
Humphrey, who attended the shoot by photog Stewart Sterling. ``We
saw the Polaroids beforehand and I swear they looked like covers
for Vanity Fair. I can't believe this kid just wants to play football.''
Oh, believe it. ``And he is as nice as the day is long,'' Humphrey
told the Track. ``He stopped in L. A. right after his vacation
and (Pro Bowl) game in Hawaii. He couldn't have been nicer or
more accommodating.''
Tuesday, February 12, 2002
And speaking of the Patriots, from the Nice
Guys Don't Always Finish Last File: Just before they headed out
to New Orleans, Adam Vinatieri and Tom Brady took time to do a
nice thing. Even though they didn't know him, the Super Bowl XXXVI
stars sent flowers to the funeral of Michael Downing, the grandfather
and longtime season ticket-holder who died of a heart attack as
he sat in his seat for the Patriots-Raiders Snow Bowl game. We'd
like to think that some good karma came back to them.
Monday, February 11, 2002
While Super Bowl XXXVI MVP Tom Brady continues
to get wacky in Waikiki after making a splash at the Pro Bowl,
his peeps say the New England Patriots QB/QT has a luau of opportunities
awaiting him when he gets home.``Obviously, with his success,
he's got a lot of proposals to look at,'' said Tom's agent, Steve
Dubin. ``But I can tell you that his appeal goes beyond sports.''
Oh, really? Are we talking Hollywood, Steve? ``Not so much Hollywood,
and I really can't say what they are right now, but Tom's goal
isn't exposure. It's winning three more of these things (Super
Bowls). Tom thinks if Joe Montana can do it, so can he.'' From
your lips to God's ears, buddy. ``Tom wants to be in the game
for a long time,'' said Dubin, who, like Tom, is a University
of Michigan alum. ``He's seen other players come and go, get overexposed.
He really doesn't want to be like that. And being only 24, he's
got a long-lasting appeal.'' But while a plethora of pleas for
a piece of Tom hit Dubin's desk daily, the agent says there is
precious off-season time for the Pats' No. 1 quarterback to decide
what to do and then do it. ``There's not much of an off-season,''
said Dubin. ``He's got about five, six, seven weeks off, then
it's back to training.'' Which leaves little time for photo shoots,
TV commercials, speeches, meet-and-greets, lunches with corporate
bigwigs, trips to the White House or rubbing elbows with celebs
in La-La. ``Seriously, we're going to be very methodical about
taking advantage of opportunities that have been presented to
us,'' he said. ``We're not going to take a shotgun approach to
this.''
Friday, February 8,2002
New England Patriots QB/QT - and Super Bowl
MVP - Tom Brady said he'd like to be a U. S. senator one day.
Oh, really? See ya, Ted Kennedy! Adios, John Kerry! According
to Tom's big sis, Julie - who was interviewed for the big Brady
blowout in the new People maggie - her baby brother has his sights
set on Capitol Hill. Heck, if former NFL great-turned-congressman
Jack Kemp could do it, it will be Brady by a landslide! And Kemp
didn't have that dimple going for him. Other newsy nuggets gleaned
from People's wet kiss: Tom is a former altar boy, he had a 3.3
GPA at the University of Michigan and - like most little brothers
- he was tormented by Julie and his other sisters, Maureen and
Nancy. ``I wanted to watch sports, and they loved soap operas,''
Tom told People's Bob Stewart. ``I hated the soap operas.'' The
Brady Girls also hid telephone messages from his high-school sweeties.
``That's why I moved 2,000 miles away to college,'' he told the
maggie. ``So I could get a date.'' Speaking of dates, Tom's steady
galpal of six months, Laura Kinsman - a former Boston PR chick
who now lives on the Left Coast - is quoted as saying how much
her hunky honey loves his family.Awwwwwwww.
Thursday, February 7,2002
She's
trying to remain incognito under that ugly Burberry hat, but our
roving photographer managed to get a shot of Tom Brady's S. O.,
Laura Kinsman, as they took a spin on the Aladdin ride at Disney
World the other day. Laura, who's been dating the Super Bowl XXXVI
heartthrob since last August, is, at the moment, basking in the
Hawaiian sun with her MVP. After the Pro Bowl, they'll both head
back to California for the winter and see where things go from
there. The aspiring studio publicist is said to be unfazed by
her QB/QT's legions of admiring female fans - many of whom sported
``Marry Me, Tom'' posters at the big parade the other day. ``She's
quite secure,'' said a pal. And why not? It was Tom who did the
pursuing and he is said to be rather smitten! Kinsman's journey
from Foxboro to hunk heaven is your typical boy-meets-girl story
- with a twist or two along the way. See, Tom isn't Laura's first
all-star arm candy. She also dated ex-New England Revolution kicker
cutie Brian Dunseth. What can we say, the gal has excellent taste.
Not to mention a natural affinity for jocks - her dad, Fred, is
a former BC hockey player who was a teammate of current Eagles
coach Jerry York. Anyway, the 25-year-old Foxboro home gal met
Dunseth when she was working in the Foxboro Stadium ticket office
shortly after graduating from Connecticut's Quinnipiac University.
The romance didn't work out, but while they were dating, Dunseth
introduced Kinsman to a friend at Regan Communications, the firm
that did PR work for the team, and she scored a job as a publicist.
At Regan, Kinsman worked on the Revs and Dunkin' Donuts accounts
but happened to be on the scene last August when the Patriots
did their annual kick-off gala for the team's Charitable Foundation
at The Westin hotel. It was there that Tracy Goulet, who works
in community relations for the team, played matchmaker. ``Tracy
came up to Laura and told her that Tom Brady, the backup quarterback,
had noticed her at a couple of events and wanted to meet her,''
said Someone Who Was There. ``She asked Laura if she could bring
him over.'' What do you think she said??? Anyway, the connection
was made, sparks flew and they have been dating ever since. Friends
say Laura had always planned to move to California after getting
a year or two's work experience and her dream was to land a PR
gig in the entertainment industry. So when November rolled around,
she packed her bags, kissed Tom goodbye and headed out to the
Left Coast. After a month or so of unsuccessful job-hunting, Kinsman
came home for the holidays. Lo and behold, her man was the starting
QB and the Pats were on a roll. ``They were headed for the playoffs,
so she hung around to see if they would make it,'' said our spy.
``Then she hung around for the Oakland game. Then she figured,
why not go to Pittsburgh? Then it was the Super Bowl.'' Kinsman
hung out with Tom's parents and sisters in New Orleans all week,
then took the trip to Disney World for the big MVP parade. When
Brady headed back to Boston for the big rally, she flew home to
L.A. to tie up some loose ends before heading out to Hawaii. She'll
resume her job hunt after the Pro Bowl and something tells us
that Tom's newfound fame may help Laura land a gig. But whatever
will she do when mini-camp rolls around? File under: Brady's Lady.

Life's a magic carpet ride now for MVP Tom
Brady-NEW ORLEANS - Hey, Tom Brady, you've just won Super Bowl
XXXVI! What are you going to do now?``I'm going to Disney World,''
the New England Patriots quarterback shouted into Mickey's cameras
after his Cinderella-story win against the big, bad St. Louis
Rams. And sure enough, after Tom's Super Bowl MVP dream came true,
No. 12's fantasy ride continued. He was whisked to Disney-MGM Studios
yesterday where he cut the obligatory Super Bowl hero ad, led
the ``Disney Stars and Motor Cars'' ticker-tape parade with the
Main Mouse, then got a quick tour of the Magic Kingdom to get
goofy with Goofy.Post-parade, the Grand Marshal, his dad, Tom
Sr., mom Galynn, and galpal Laura Kinsman were treated to lunch
at the Hollywood Brown Derby in MGM Studios and then it was on
to the new Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride for more thrills and
chills! Ahhh, life's a real fairy tale for our Tom, isn't it???
``This is all new to me,'' Tom told the Track. ``I'm like a kite
in the wind right now. It's hard to turn people down. But it's
a great ride and it will just get better. But the mark's been
set pretty high after (Sunday's) game.''Now, we hope Tom didn't
hurl all over Aladdin's carpet, because, we hear that the rug
ride can be pretty herky-jerky. And according to Brady, he's ``not
as young'' as he used to be. (Please, he's 24!)``I don't know
if my stomach can take it,'' said the California kid before winging
his way from New Orleans to Orlando yesterday morning for a three-hour
tour of Mickey's digs. ``Do they have a Ferris wheel down there?''During
his time in the Wonderful World of Disney, Tom also did a shoot
at the All-Star Café and then headed back to Boston last night
for today's noontime celebration on City Hall Plaza. Then he's
off to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl.``I'm going to have some time sitting
on the beach with a pina colada to think about it,'' said Tom,
who looked like he needed a triple latte to get his eyes open
early yesterday after partying with his family, teammates and
the Vince Lombardi Trophy until 3 a.m. The Matt Damon doppelganger,
a virtual unknown before last week, went from Zero To Hero on
Super Bowl Sunday and is now being besieged with requests for
interviews, endorsements, etc. A People maggie reporter was spotted
hopping in a limo with him after yesterday morning's press conference.
And his ``Got Milk?'' ad, which was shot last week, appeared in
yesterday's edition of USA Today. Then there's the $60,000 souped-up
Cadillac Escalade that Tom won for being the game's MVP. Brady
said he'll probably use his new wheels when he's home in California.
So he won't have to keep borrowing Dad's.
Monday, February 4, 2002
And let's face it, if Manny doesn't write
the check, it's unclear who would. It probably wouldn't be Drew's
replacement, Tom Brady, who will get a raise next year, but nowhere
near Bledsoe dough. And anyway, we hear the QB/QT already has
a place with Patriot ties. Tom bought Ty Law's old condo in Franklin
when Law sidled into Stoughton. Before Ty hung his ties there,
Tom's condo was owned by the previous backup quarterback, Scott
Zolak. Word is, Law made some, er, interesting decor changes before
departing, including the installation of a red shag rug. Shagadelic!
Patriotic cooking - The New England Patriots thought they had
a secret weapon going into yesterday's Super Bowl XXXVI - celebrity
chef Emeril Lagasse. Lagasse, surrounded yesterday in his Warehouse
District eatery by two suit-clad bodyguards, joked with his brother,
Mark, via cell-phone that Rams coach Mike Martz came in the other
night for dinner and he ``poisoned him.''`I'm going to take the
points,'' said the Big Bam guy. The Nawlins chef told the Track
that he pined to put on his Patriots jacket yesterday morning
before leaving the house to entertain execs from the Food Network.
But his wife put the kibosh on it. ``She said, `You can't wear
that, you have to go neutral,' '' he said. ``So I put a little
blue on anyway.'' By the way, Emeril rattled the pots and pans
for Pats quarterback cutie Tom Brady and his brood on Super Bowl
Eve. ``He's a really humble guy,'' said the chef, who added that
he's got a connection to No. 12 through someone in the Brady Bunch
who reps for All-Clad, manufacturers of a special Emeril cookware
line. Of course. Earlier in the week, Chef also fed coach Bill
Belichick and his bunch at NOLA, Lagasse's eatery in the French
Quarter. ``He was confident, but humble and he came to play,''
said the TV kitchen king, who scored primo seats in the Superdome
for last night's game. Emeril told us this is his third Big Easy
Bash with the Patriots and he's got the jackets in the closet
to show for it. Bam!
Side Note
Last night, when Tom Brady arrived at Foxboro
Stadium via a black stretch limo, he had to load his bags into
the bed of his Dodge Ram pick-up. As he was doing so, Drew Bledsoe
pulled up in his white Chevy SUV, and shared a few words with
Brady. They laughed, hugged and laughed some more. Brady and Bledsoe
have definitely become good friends, and Brady reverbrated his
respect for Drew today at the rally, choosing not to speak. Tom's
house in Franklin was decked in red, white and blue by neighbors
and fans. When he arrived, he was astonished to find the gates
covered in posterboards with good wishes. Ty Law's house was arguably
the most decored by fans, for they even tied balloons along his
monstrous wall, guarding his house. Tom's on/off girlfriend was
in the same "duck boat" as Tom and his parents, in a white furry
cap filming (using a camcorder) all the pivotal moments for Tom.

LL Cool Jay, who made the scene at the marvy
Maxim maggie bash along with a galaxy of stars the other night,
knows a little bit about being the underdog from his role in ``Any
Given Sunday.'' But LL's cheering on the Brady Bunch and he thinks
they're gonna win!``I saw Tom Brady and he had the eye of the
tiger,'' LL told the Track. ``I know it's going to be a tight
game, but I'm rooting for the Patriots.'' Win in the stars-Massachusetts'
official astrologer is all starry-eyed about the Patriots' chances
for victory today. The Cosmic Muffin said Tom Brady & Co. will
once again benefit from Mercury being in retrograde and win BIG
in the Super Bowl. The state's official star-gazer, who predicted
a Pats win over Pittsburgh last weekend, said because things go
kaflooey during retrograde time, the bigger the point spread between
the Rams and Patriots, the better the chances for the Brady Bunch.
And last we checked, the spread was a whopping 14 points! But
didn't we also have that freaky full moon last Monday that helped
us with the Steelers showdown, oh Cosmic One? ``True, but it doesn't
matter,'' dished Darrell Martinie. ``Even Bill Parcells agreed
with me. He said he liked their chances. And I'm thinking to myself,
`Hello, people, get a clue like Bill and me.' ''The Muffin Man's
prediction would jibe with that of Bree, an oracle reader in Nawlins
Jackson Square, who turned over the Success Card when asked about
the Pats. But it wouldn't fall into step with New Orleans visionary
Miss Kim, who claims the game will be a tight, low-scoring one
with bad calls. She's also seeing another injury in the future
for one of the Pats - possibly Brady! The Rams will win, she said.Obviously,
Miss Kim is missing the star-crossed Patriots karma!
Saturday, February 2, 2002
As for quarterback cutie Tom Brady, he's
been under the radar on the partying scene and has been hitting
the hay early, we hear. But our spies caught him dining en famille
at Smith & Wollensky with his peeps who blew in from the Left
Coast that day. Tom hosted Mom, Dad, his sibs and Boston galpal
Laura Kinsman to steaks and salad. The Brady Bunch was greeted
by team owner Bob Kraft who was also there with his brood.

A planeload of Patriots family and friends
left Boston for New Orleans yesterday, arriving in the Big Easy
late yesterday afternoon. We hear QB/QT Tom Brady's galpal, Laura
Kinsman, was on board the charter. Well, someone's got to hold
the ice bag on his ankle!
Thursday, January 31, 2002
NEW ORLEANS - You don't have to be able
to toss a football like Tom Brady to be Super Bowl XXXVI's halftime
entertainer. Which was quite apparent yesterday when U2 frontman
Bono warned the media mob gathered at the E*Trade Halftime Show
press conference that he throws like a rugby player! ``A lot of
nonsense has been written about the (Drew) Bledsoe vs. Brady situation.
We are not here to add to the travesty and won't be fielding any
questions about it. It's up to Coach (Bill) Belichick,'' he said.
``But Bledsoe does have that super-long pass and Brady's ankle
can be a bit of a problem.''Yikes! Sign the man up for ``Sports
Center''!
Wednesday, January 30, 2002
As for quarterback cutie Tom Brady, he told
the Track he spent his first night in Nawlins in his hotel room
at the Fairmont, tending to his hinky ankle.``It's a great town
to be in and our hotel is two blocks away from everything that's
going on. I hear there were some fun times last night,'' laughed
Brady. ``I haven't had a chance to do too much. There's been a
lot of time sitting around the hotel room with ice.''
Friday, January 25, 2002
Hope Tom Brady & Company - and the Cosmic
Muffin - don't choke. Or they'll really see stars!
Thursday, January 24, 2002
Patriots quarterback cutie Tom Brady's luck
ran out about 24 hours after referee Walt Coleman reversed his
fumble. Brady hit the tables at Foxwoods the day after the Big
Game with a passel of pals and teammates. But we hear the Pats'
fortunate son didn't exactly extend his winning streak. . . .

And after Tom Brady's Elway-like performance
Saturday, the hottest tune on radio is Tom Doyle's hilarious ``Brady
Shuffle.'' The WROR funnyman penned the song to the tune of the
``Curly Shuffle'' for our favorite quarterback cutie.

This
week's Improper Bostonian rounds up a lot of the usual suspects
for its new issue on Boston's Most Eligible Singles. Cover guys
and girls are, from left, Peabody firefight and part-time model
Michael Peluso, Boston Breaker babe Kate Spobrero, WBZ-TV anchorchick
Lisa Hughes and nightclub nabob Seth Greenberg. (Yawn.) Other
supposedly available singles include Red Sox slugger Nomar Garciaparra,
who, we've already told you, is swinging with soccer star Mia
Hamm; New England Patriots quarterback cutie Tom Brady, who's
cozy with publicist Laura Kinsman; and perennial bachelor George
Regan of PR fame. Not exactly an encouraging list...

Brady may catch Drew's pitches - It's practically
a foregone conclusion New England Patriots classy quarterback
Drew Bledsoe won't be around these parts next year. Which leads
us to ask: What happens to Drew's local sponsorship deals with
Papa Gino's, New England Ford and Fleet? Well, believe it or not,
it's not beyond the realm of possibility his replacement, Tom
Brady, could also end up with all of Drew's commercial work! Here's
the deal: Bledsoe's endorsements and commercial appearances are
orchestrated by the team as part of his compensation package.
In other words, Bledsoe's $103 million contract calls for him
to do a certain number of pitches, and the team gets the revenue
to offset Drew's salary. ``It actually works out better for everyone
that way,'' said Someone Who Knows. ``Then Drew's agents aren't
chasing around endorsement deals and the team isn't stuck with
a situation where their guy is pitching Buicks and the official
team vehicle is Ford.'' Of course, if Bledsoe is not the New England
Patriots quarterback next year, the local sponsors aren't exactly
going to want him shilling their stuff. So the team could offer
sponsors an alternate athlete. And if Brady is given a new contract
commensurate with his new No. 1 status, then he could be da man.
``They could offer an alternate player, or, maybe give the sponsors
increased signage at the new stadium or other incentives,'' said
our pigskin spy. ``There are all kinds of ways to offset these
things.''

9.) Go Pats!: The season started dismally
enough with a 1-3 record and Drew Bledsoe coughing up a lung after
a vicious hit in the second game. Off the field, Terry Glenn was
as nutty as ever and the quarterback controversy raged. But somehow,
somewhere with the help of unknowns Tom Brady and Antowain Smith
and genius coaching, they march toward - dare we say it, cher
- New Orleans????

Lounging at the 50-yard -And speaking of
CMGI Field, the Pats' new stadium is going to have a private club
area with amenities you'd expect in a five-star hotel - not a
football field! The expansive lounge, open to luxury-box and club-seat
holders, will be poshly furnished with comfy club chairs, mahogany
woodwork, a granite bar, a grand piano and - get this - a Jerusalem
stone fireplace! Of course, there's a wall of glass looking over
the playing field at the 50-yard line. And for the Track's money,
there aren't many better ways to kill a Sunday afternoon than
curling up by the fire with a view of Tom Brady! Woo hoo! But
the Pats poohbahs are hoping that boxholders will use the facility
for private dinners and meetings on non-game days as well. Of
course, the view won't be as good. . . .

Anyway, Mead was in Foxboro to sing the
National Anthem before the Patriots-Browns game Sunday. Seems
the actress, who is trying to jump start a singing career, was
performing at 92 PRO-FM's annual Jingle Mingle last night at the
Dunkin' Donuts Center down in Providence. Since she was in the
neighborhood, she took the opportunity to come up and croon for
Tom Brady & Co.

And do take in Boston Celtic Antoine Walker's
8 Ball Celebrity Pool Tournament to benefit inner-city kids at
The Rack Monday. It's going to be a real jock sniffer's nirvana
with sports studs from all local teams shooting pool for a good
cause. Cue up Tom Brady!

It didn't take New England Patriots quarterback
cutie Tom Brady long to latch onto some new female companionship
after his galpal packed up and headed for the Left Coast. Brady,
who was dating publicist Laura Kinsman until her recent move to
California, was spotted sucking face at The Place with a sales
and promotions gal from sports radio station WWZN, aka 1510 The
Zone. What can we say? The boy's a player.

The ongoing saga of Bledsoe vs. Tom Brady.
Heck, we didn't have a mayor's race so we may as well have a QB
controversy! And as far as local soap operas go, it's much more
entertaining than the Chet and Nat divorce. Zzzzz already.

A Very Tom Brady spoof - And because we
love him, here's the story of a man named Brady. We speak, of
course, of New England Patriots quarterback cutie Tom Brady. But
we're also talking Peter Brady aka Christopher Knight. Turns out
Christopher, who played the middle Brady bro in the infamous '70s
sitcom, is a BIG New England Patriots fan. And that's how Peter,
Bobby and Greg Brady (aka Knight, Mike Lookinland and Greg Williams)
wound up co-starring with Tom and Drew Bledsoe in ESPN's hilarious
``E! True Hollywood Story'' `Brady Bunch' spoof.``Chris Knight
was totally up for it and he got the other two guys involved,''
said ESPN reporter Greg Garber, who co-produced the piece with
Ben Houser. ``He had it all figured out.''In case you haven't
seen it (and you really should), the pseudo-documentary is done
in true ``True Hollywood Story'' fashion. The premise is that
Tom is the fourth Brady bro who was thrown out of the family when
he broke Marcia's nose by hitting her in the face with a football.``The
thing that made it work was how deadpan everyone was,'' Garber
said. ``You expect the `Brady Bunch' guys to be good, they're
actors. But what really surprised us was Drew and Tom. They're
so spot-on it's scary.''Garber said Drew couldn't wait to stick
it to his understudy.``He totally ad-libbed his lines,'' he said.
``He comes up with `Tom has a dark side. There's some skeletons
in his closet. He has issues.' Then for a promo he says, `I saw
Tom crying in the locker room one day. He was watching a ``Brady
Bunch'' re-run.' He just made it all up on the spot!''Who knew
Drew was such a card? Garber said the E! peeps were totally into
the piece, providing animation and graphic assistance and ESPN
even hired the voice of ``True Hollywood Story,'' Phil Crowley,
to narrate.``My only regret is that Marcia wouldn't come to the
table,'' he said.Maureen McCormick, who played the unfortunate
victim of a football face in a real ``Brady Bunch'' episode, told
ESPN that she only does charity gigs now.Garber said the aim was
to make the piece actually believable. And apparently, he succeeded
because Brady told pals that a couple of his teammates asked him
if it was true!Pats spokesguy Stacey James said Brady and Bledsoe
are getting a kick out of the reaction to the spoof.``They got
Tom at just the right time,'' he said. ``Before he knew he could
say no.''And that's the way they became the Brady Bunch! And speaking
of Tom - and love - we hear the lucky gal he's been keeping company
with is publicist Laura Kingsman, a striking brunette who used
to date ex-New England Revolution kicker cutie Brian Dunseth.
Wow, talk about your A-Team!But don't fret ladies, Tom isn't permanently
taken. Laura, who began dating Brady before Drew coughed up a
lung and made his No. 2 No. 1, just moved to California.

Yes, that was quarterback cutie Tom Brady
throwing them back at Whiskey Park the other night prior to his
big win Sunday.

World Gym-Dedham wants to pump up our spirits
by hosting ``a day of healing'' Saturday with special yoga classes,
a Spinathon, free blood pressure screenings and body-fat testing.
Ooh, that's a downer! Lots of auction items will be up for bid,
including a football signed by New England Patriots cutie Tom
Brady. All the fun happens between 7 and 11 a.m. So bring your
wallet and workout duds! Take yesterday, for example - the team
paraded out Ted Johnson, Kevin Faulk, Kenyetta Jones, Leonard
Myers, Patrick Pass and Richard Seymour to read with kids at the
United Way's Victory Generation After School Program. So where
was the hero of Sunday's overtime win against Doug Flutie & Co.?
Was Brady kept out of the mix so no one gets the idea that he's
trying to take over all the duties of the No. 1 guy, Drew Bledsoe,
who's been sidelined with a chest injury for more than three weeks?
``No, no, no. Absolutely not,'' said Pats spokesguy Don Lowery.
``Tom did a lot of charity events in the off-season, but until
three weeks ago, nobody knew who he was.''

So is quarterback cutie Tom Brady the Dick
Cheney of the New England Patriots? We only ask because, like
George W. Bush's No. 2, Brady is conspicuous by his absence on
the Pats PR front. He is apparently holed up in his own ``secure
location'' - Foxboro Stadium - and although he is doing all the
important work, he's not being trotted out at non-football events.Well,
they sure do now, Don. So when might we be seeing Tom out on the
rubber-chicken circuit? ``You'll see him soon,'' he promised.
``He's a very community-minded young man.'' And did we mention
that he's also single, ladies???? Lowery said it's possible that
Brady may show his fab face at Tuesday's R.O.S.E. Fund dinner
at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, one of the team's big charity events.
``The bottom line,'' said one sports marketing type, ``is if they're
confident they're going to play Drew when he's healthy again,
why not get one of the other guys out there, as long as he's winning?''
Meanwhile, the buzz around the locker room is that Bledsoe is
going to be out of action for at least another five weeks - not
the two or three more that the team's owned up to thus far. Meaning
that, one way or another, it's shaping up to be a very Brady fall
in the Bay State!
